Dermamelan® reduces pigmentation and evens skin tone with in-clinic and homecare treatments.

SKIN TREATMENTS

DERMAMELAN PEEL

 ABOUT

Dermamelan® combines in-clinic application and a complete homecare regime to dramatically reduce hormonal pigmentation and effectively even out skin tone on any skin type and colour.

The Dermamelan® formula features a unique combination of active ingredients that act on all phases of the hyperpigmentation process. It treats existing hyperpigmentation and prevents its reappearance, as well as the appearance of new spots.

Other treatments such as laser or peel have a corrective action on the spots, by removing the pigment accumulated in the skin, but their reappearance cannot be avoided. Dermamelan® has a dual corrective, but also regulating action to treat the origin of the problem and maintain pigment overproduction under control to prevent recurrence.

Dermamelan® is popular for full facial treatments. However, it is also suitable for treating areas of the body that suffer from sun damage, such as the arms, chest and shoulders where dark spots and freckles appear.

Treatment Time 45 - 60 minutes

 HOW IT WORKS

Following a proper diagnosis by the medical professional, the treatment begins with a first session in the medical consultation. Your Dermamelan® treatment begins at the clinic and takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. Your face is prepped and cleaned, and then the peel is applied. The Dermamelan® facial mask is applied evenly to your face and will remain in place for 8-12 hours depending on your skin type and is best applied in the morning.

Once you have reached the end of your development time, you will then remove the mask. Your therapist will provide you with instructions on how to remove the mask at home. Most people will experience some redness and swelling the following day that usually settles in a couple of days. You will also begin to experience peeling or shedding of the skin, ranging from light flaking through to heavier peeling. At this point, you will have also started your home care program, which continues the depigmentation treatment.

This phase has a length of 4 months and starts 48-72h after the consultation phase. It consists of applying your home care products with a complementary action that maintains the depigmenting action and intensifies the regulating action with the aim of treating the root of the problem and achieving a comprehensive and long-lasting result.

 RESULTS

Depending on your initial skin condition, you may see your unwanted pigmentation start to fade away, and a brighter complexion revealed as soon as one week after your treatment. With continuing use of the home care regime, the pigmentation will continue to fade and help prevent the recurrence of unwanted pigmentation. Post-treatment, you will notice the added benefits include better-hydrated skin, reduced pore size, regulated sebum production and a general rejuvenation of the skin’s surface.

According to results commissioned by Mesoestetic, in 99% of cases involving blemishes or abnormal hyperpigmentation, the blemish elimination process achieved a 95% efficacy rate. In some cases, you may need more than one treatment to achieve desired results. Our practitioners will work closely with you to recommend the required number of treatments to meet your expectations.

 POST TREATMENT CARE

The downtime will vary between individuals. Most people will find that the peeling and redness lasts around 5-7 days. Those people who have a stronger reaction may find their downtime lasts a little bit longer.

Dermamelan is a very safe procedure delivering excellent results. However, some common side effects can occur:

  • Tightness: 5-6 days after your Dermamelan cream mask is removed, your skin can feel tight and may appear swollen.

  • Skin Peeling: it is normal to experience some level of peeling of your skin within the first 7 to 21 days. This can vary from patient to patient, and you may want to consider booking a few days off from work. The peeling can persist during your treatment course, but this usually starts to settle as the skin begins to build up a tolerance.

You will receive your post care pack with products to use to reinforce the protection and depigmenting synergistic action. Including:

Dermamelan treatment: Home cream whose main action is the attenuation and control of acquired skin pigmentation imperfections of melanic origin, located on the face.

Melan Recovery: Intensive treatment to combat reactive signs of irritation and redness, providing the sensation of instant relief.

Melan 130 Pigment Control: Very high factor sun protection with colour indicated for skin with pigmentation imperfections.

 WHAT TO EXPECT

This treatment is a process in which the skin is completely renewed gradually and on a controlled basis. During the initial phase and after your peel at the clinic has been washed off, the skin appears reddened and you can feel warmth, but these are mild, expected reactions that will disappear after 24-48 hours. During the home phase, it is normal to experience a slight flaking and sometimes some sensitivity can be felt. These effects disappear with the application of the home products recommended by your specialist.

The most significant change occurs within a few weeks from applying the mask in consultation. You will see an improvement in the skin texture and a reduction of the pigmentation's colour. This is because, during that period, melanin is removed from the outer layers of the skin. However, we must continue with the treatment for the full 4 months, since removing the accumulated melanin is not enough; we need to regulate its overproduction.

 FOLLOW UP AND NEXT STEPS

The peeling effect usually starts about two to three days following the procedure and is often accompanied by a tight feeling in the skin and itchiness. Application of the home care products will help to soothe the skin and is a strict protocol that needs to be followed to ensure the desired results.

Dermamelan® is a non-invasive topical treatment and does not prevent you from following your normal life. It is however vitally important that the daily homecare regime is maintained and sun exposure will need to be avoided as far as possible.

Avoid wearing makeup or using any skin products that aren’t recommended by your professional during this time.

It’s also imperative that you stay out of the sun. maintenance creams are necessary to complete the process.

Your initial results will continue to improve, with full benefits seen around week four or five.
